Christmastime is such a special time for children. It can be a magical and memorable time of year.
Angels of Action Heart of the Holiday’s is a local Christmas program that identifies families and children throughout Mecosta and Osceola counties that are not enrolled in other Christmas programs.
Our Heart of the Holiday event goes beyond gifts for the children that we serve and strives to give a little bit of that Christmas magic to the entire family! Heart of the Holidays not only provides presents to the children and families, it encourages family time, togetherness and celebrates the true meaning of the holidays.
Christmas 2019, the first annual Heart of the Holiday’s event was held at the Big Rapids Eagles. 36 children, from 5 area schools, were served that year. Families were invited to attend the special event which included a catered meal from Three Girls Bakery, a visit and pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus, a family household basket, a new Bible, a Christmas dinner & breakfast basket, and gifts for each child.
Christmas 2020 brought tremendous need; 33 families and 110 children from pre-school to high school were served. All families were blessed with presents for the children; in addition to family household baskets, cookie decorating kits, hot cocoa bombs, a gift for the adults, a new Bible, and a Christmas dinner & breakfast basket.
We anticipate this program will expand each year, as the need in our community continues to grow.
