A Tradition Continues...

We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue an amazing community tradition and Angels of Action is so blessed to have the Rotary Club of Big Rapids, Michigan assisting us in this transition ! Collaboration is such a key piece, and we are blessed to be able to be guided by them. So honored to be able to carry on this tradition and it still be able to bless our community.

WOW! What a team of incredible volunteers it took to pull off our first ever Chicken BBQ at the Mecosta County Free Fair in July! We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many servant-minded community members willing to lend a helping hand, and even do the chicken dance on the side of the road to bring in more customers! Over the course of 4 days, we had 145 happy, smiling people put in 1,042 volunteer hours at the BBQ! That’s a lot of Angel-Power, and doesn’t even include the additional 25 volunteers that logged 70+ volunteer hours of prep the week leading up to the BBQ and the tear down/clean up in the days after. And a big thank you again for the volunteers from the Rotary who handed over this amazing community event to us to continue for many more years to come.

We’d like to give an angelic shout out to the Rotary Club of Big Rapids! Their mission is Service Above Self, and our local Rotarians have been a tremendous blessing to our community and communities across the country & globe since 1923! The tradition of the Rotary’s Annual Chicken BBQ dates back to the 1950s, with the festivities taking place at the Mecosta County Fairgrounds ‘Chicken Shack’ since 1982.

So much love, appreciation, and thanks to all of the many club members that offered their time, knowledge and helping hands getting ready for, and putting on, the first ever Angels of Action BBQ at the newly named Chicken Coop! Rotary Club of Big Rapids truly lives up to their mission of Service Above Self.
